A concert by the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra has taken place in Harbin, China, to mark the 185th anniversary of the birth of Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Xinhua News Agency, a TV BRICS partner, has reported.

Larisa Markosyan, director of the international chamber orchestra music festival Asia – Siberia – Europe, highlighted the unique atmosphere of Harbin. She expressed gratitude to the city for its warm welcome, the opportunity to experience its rich cultural environment, and to take part in the prestigious Harbin Summer festival.

The performance is said to be a continuation of the successful collaboration between musicians from the two countries. Markosyan hopes for more frequent cooperation with Chinese musicians in the future and the development of joint projects.

This marks the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra’s third tour of China. The ensemble first performed in the country in 2015, an appearance that sparked a partnership later reflected in the renaming of the international festival Siberia – Europe to Asia – Siberia – Europe. On this visit, the musicians presented works by Chaikovsky and Shostakovich, with concerts staged in Harbin’s leading venues, supported by both the Krasnoyarsk administration and the city’s Administration.
